Kostas Sloukas, who was dealing with a shoulder injury, will most likely be available for Panathinaikos' home game against Maccabi for EuroLeague Round 9.
Kostas Sloukas injured his shoulder during Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens' derby against Olympiacos Piraeus in EuroLeague Round 8 while trying to come off a screen in the fourth quarter. He was immediately subbed out but appeared to be in great pain.
The team's medical staff, along with coach Ergin Ataman, kept him out of Panathinaikos' game against Peristeri for the Greek League on Sunday in order for him to be able to play in the upcoming EuroLeague double-week, starting with the clash against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv this Tuesday (20:15 CET).
However, it seems that the captain of the reigning EuroLeague champs will be included in the 12-man squad for the game corresponding to Round 9.
"You know that [Marius] Grigonis and [Kostas] Antetokounmpo will not be on the roster, they need more time," Ergin Ataman told reporters at the pre-game media session.
"But Sloukas practiced with the team. I think there's a 90% chance he will be on the floor and that he will play tomorrow," the Turkish coach said.
Ataman did not attend the post-game press conference in the Greek League on Sunday and was taken to hospital.
"I have been sick for the last 2-3 days," he explained.
"I went to the hospital to check the situation. The doctor told me I'm fine and that I don't need to stay in the hospital. I have a virus, I'm sick, but I am alive, next to my team. We finished practice, and hopefully, I'll be on the bench tomorrow."
