According to league sources, per ESPN, Jaylen Brown received pain management injections in his right knee this week to help relieve the pain from a bone bruise and to promote healing before the Boston Celtics title defense begins.

The good news for the Celtics and their fans is that Brown is expected to be ready for the first-round playoff series, set to begin either April 19 or 20.

Brown has been dealing with the knee issue for some time now, but the pain recently intensified, forcing him to sit out parts of the Celtics’ victory over the New York Knicks on Tuesday.

He didn't play much in the second half or overtime, which led to his decision to rest for the Celtics' Thursday night loss to the Orlando Magic.

This rest also ended any hopes of him meeting the 65-game requirement to be eligible for postseason awards.

Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis spoke out about Brown’s injury after the Knicks win, urging the All-Star to rest and prioritize his health for the playoffs.

"He's a tough dude," Porzingis said. "He always preaches his warrior mindset. He lives by it. But to what extent do we need that right now?"

"Maybe he needs to take care of it and make sure he's going to be ready for the most important moment. I think we need to encourage him to make sure he does everything he needs to prepare to get it healthy and to prepare for what's going to come," he added.

While Brown’s knee injury has been a point of concern, he has still managed to play in 63 games this season, with averages of 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and a career-high 4.5 assists per game.
