Ahead of Sunday’s game, Jasikevicius was asked whether he had ever imagined Spanoulis becoming a successful head coach. He admitted he had never even considered the possibility, as he didn’t think Spanoulis would go down that path.

"To be honest, I never thought he’d become a coach," Jasikevicius revealed. "It surprised me that he went down this path. I’m not sure, but I think he used to say that he didn’t really want to become a head coach."

"Even I wasn’t sure I’d become a head coach until the last two years of my playing career, I had put those thoughts aside before then," he added.

Although Jasikevicius said it all makes sense in the end, as Spanoulis is a true basketball maniac.

"I didn’t think he would become a coach, but in the end, it makes sense—he lives and breathes basketball."

The EuroLeague Final between Fenerbahce and Monaco will take place on Sunday at 19:00 CET. Fenerbahce will be aiming to win their second EuroLeague title, while Monaco are chasing a historic first in the club’s history.
