According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Cavs All-Star Darius Garland underwent surgery to repair a great toe injury and is expected to be sidelined for approximately 4 to 5 months.

Garland had been dealing with the toe injury since the end of the regular season, during which he missed several games.

He returned to the lineup for the playoffs but was once again forced to sit out multiple games due to the injury.

Garland appeared in five playoff games, but his efforts weren't enough as the Cavaliers were eliminated in the second round by the Indiana Pacers.

This season, Garland averaged 20.6 points, 6.7 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game. He was named to his second All-Star Game and helped lead the Cavs to a league-best 64–18 record in the Eastern Conference.
