Patty Mills has been named the general manager of the University of Hawaii men’s basketball team.
Another NBA player is continuing the growing trend of joining college programs as general managers.
One of the greatest Australian basketball players of all time, Patty Mills, has been named general manager of the University of Hawaii men’s basketball team, head coach Eran Ganot announced on Monday.
A five-time Olympian, NBA champion, and 16-year NBA veteran, Mills will play a key role in student-athlete mentorship and development. He will also contribute to critical areas such as recruiting, fundraising, and community engagement.
Currently a member of the LA Clippers and a 2014 NBA champion with the San Antonio Spurs, Mills is no stranger to the islands. He has spent the past decade living on O‘ahu’s North Shore during the NBA offseason, making Hawaii a second home.
Mills follows in the footsteps of fellow NBA stars like Stephen Curry and Trae Young, who also recently took on GM roles with their alma maters' men’s basketball programs.
